No more planning, no more preparing ... it all gets started tonight for the Prince George Spruce Kings as they open their 2010-11 BCHL season at home against the Quesnel Millionaires.
Lots has changed for the team who will be going with essentially an all new roster for the season. Looking at the numbers, that roster seems to be fairly well balanced with age and experience. There are 6 twenty year olds on the list along with 9 nineteen year olds, 5 eighteen year olds and 2 sixteen year olds ... there are no seventeen year old players this year.
As far as skill and experience go ... RJay Berra, Justin Fillion, Nicolas DeSousa, Jeff Earnest, Jeff Datoff, Kyle Manlow, Luke Hannas and Jeremy Wiebe represent the vets on the team. Chris Bodo and Ryan Benitez come in as rookies with scholarships already secured. A number of players have Junior A experience or better and all have shown an ability to get the job done this season.
That job starts tonight for these players and this team that is looking to literally take the "clean slate" that is provided with the start of a new season and paint a winning picture on it. The first night's opponent can't be taken lightly as the Quesnel Millionaires are looking to ride the momentum they generated in the previous post season to jump start them this year.
