Venue: Prince
George Coliseum
Game Time: 3pm
Last Year’s Matchup: 1-1
Season Series: Loss 6-2 a few weeks ago in the first game of the island road
trip.
Game Overview:
The last time these two teams met, it was Powell River coming away with
a 6-2 win. Things were tied 2-2 in the second, but the Kings would score two
late goals, and add another pair in the third to take the final win. It wasn’t
the result Chad van Diemen was looking for against his old team, and he will
look to do better on home ice this time around. This time the Spruce Kings won’t
have spent 16 hours on a road trip from PG to Powell River the day before, so
that should help Prince George.
Prince George Home Record: 4-7-0-0
Spruce Kings Leading Scorer: Adam Brubacher – 9G/13A/22pts)
Powell River Road Record: 6-7-0-1
Kings Leading Scorer: Nick Halagian – 5G/16A/21 pts (3G/2A/5pts vs PG this
season)
Player to watch:
Spruce Kings:
A player that might be unappreciated
this season is Bryan Basilico. Not that he isn’t treated well, but probably isn’t
talked about as much as he deserves. In his first season with PG since being
acquired from Trail, Basilico has 13 points in 20 games including three power
play goals which ranks second on the team. The power forward had a pair of
assists last night against the Silverbacks.
Kings:
The last time these two
teams met, Nick Halagian scored nearly a ¼ of the points he has now. A five
point night came courtesy of a hat trick, and two assists in a 6-2 win in
Powell River. The forward has just four points since that game though.
